INFORMATION SHEET –PROPOSED BLEWETT PASS SNO-PARK EXPANSIO
Existing Situation:  The Sno-park located on either side of US-97 at the summit of Blewett Pass  is chronically too
small to satisfy the demand for parking.   On nice weekends, it often fills up early in the day and recreationists who
arrive later cannot find parking and must travel long distances to find other opportunities.

Proposed Remedy:. Expand the parking area on the south side of the highway by about 1/3 acre.   This would be
accomplished by digging into the existing cut bank and building a retaining wall, thereby widening the parking area
by about 75 feet.   This would approximately double the parking capacity on the south side of the highway.  Included
in this action is fixing drainage and runoff problems both at the Sno-aprk itself and on the road immediately above it.

Known Issues: Soil erosion and runoff, removal of trees, effect of additional recreationists on the winter trails.

Timeframe: Analysis and decision scheduled for completion by July 2012
