INFORMATION SHEET –PROPOSED BEAN BASIN SPUR TRAIL
Existing Situation: There is an existing well-traveled footpath which connects Bean Creek trail #1391.1 with the
upper reaches of Bean Basin, an open meadow which is a popular destination with hikers, horsemen, and to a
lesser extent, mountain bikers. This footpath has existed for many years but has never been an official trail, plus
the upper and lower segments of it are poorly located, traversing wet meadows and steep grades, and are badly
rutted.
Proposed Remedy: Make the footpath – which we propose to call Bean Basin Spur- an official non-motorized trail,
and relocate approximately 1000 feet of it to a more maintainable location and grade.
Known Issues: Soil erosion and runoff, effect on alpine meadows.
Timeframe: Analysis and decision scheduled for completion by June 2012
